Freshness and liveliness, in contrast to the concentration of recent years. Superb balance between acidity and sugar levels – reflecting a precisely timed harvest. Layered wines full of complexity and depth from blending a selection of perfectly ripe varieties. Typical blackcurrant and lavender aromas with traces of fennel, whose fragrance is often carried by the breeze in the vineyards at Vesúvio. On the palate the wine delivers mouth-filling ripe black fruit flavors; opulent and velvety, although with substantial volume and weighty structure. Very polished tannins provide a satisfyingly long, silky finish.Vineyard Notes
2019 was a year to celebrate the Douro’s remarkably resilient grape varieties in an unusually dry year. The growing season was fairly erratic, with a little over 50% of the average winter rainfall and almost none in the summer. Fortunately, showers at the end of August helped the grapes achieve more balanced maturations.Winemaker Notes
